The 10,000 square foot Castino Lakeview Mansion sits high atop a bluff with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. It is steps down to the expansive beach and marina with sand volleyball nets, public restrooms and fire pits. The house has the feel of yesteryear's opulence. It was built by a coal and shipping baron on the Great Lakes in 1912, and they spared no expense. The features include mahogany trim, barreled dining room ceiling, ornamental plasters, along with iron, stone and brickwork. There are 9 bedrooms in the main house, able to sleep a combination of children and adults up to 24, along with 2 bedrooms in the coach house, 9 bathrooms, 11 fireplaces, 11 flat screen TV's, Wi-Fi and an outdoor fire table. There is a full kitchen (plus a kitchenette on the third floor) along with a gas grill on the veranda, which overlooks Lake Michigan, the beach and the marina.
The lower level is a playground for young and old, including a full mahogany bar, foosball, ping pong, billiards and laundry facilities. Three blocks south on the lakefront is an exceptional YMCA, and a mile down on the lakefront is an indoor water park for the kids. Our location is extremely convenient for getting to world-class golf, including The American Club at Kohler, WI, Whistling Straits and the Bull at Pinehurst Farms.
Road America Racing in Elkhart Lake is nearby, and cultural opportunities abound. Weil Performing Arts Center and the Kohler Art Center and a fabulous children's museum are just a brisk walk away. Also available are sailing, charter fishing, kayaking (4 available for your use), cross-country skiing, hiking, and biking (6 bikes available on premises, additional rentals in town). Plenty of fine dining options as well as pub grub are also within walking distance and certainly within biking distance.
